South Africa vs Australia

Date: 29 August 2009, Saturday

Time: 10:05 GMT, 06:05 EDT, 2o:05 AEST

Venue: Oval Stadium, Perth

Springboks scrum-half Fourie du Preez clears the ball, South Africa v New Zealand, Tri-Nations, Kings Park, Durban, South Africa, August 1, 2009

Springboks coach Peter de Villiers has made two changes to his side ahead of Saturday's Tri-Nations clash with Australia in Perth.

South Africa are currently leading the race for the southern hemisphere crown after two victories over New Zealand and another over the Wallabies and victory over the hosts at the Subiaco Oval will see them close in on what would be their third Tri-Nations title.

Ruan Pienaar will start at fullback ahead of Frans Steyn in the only change to the starting side that accounted for the Wallabies in Cape Town on August 8 with Steyn dropping to the bench. In a second change, flank Schalk Burger returns to the bench in place of Danie Rossouw, who is recovering from injury.

Wallabies captain George Smith rallies his players, Australia v New Zealand, Tri-Nations, ANZ Stadium, Sydney, Australia, August 22, 2009

Australia are refusing to concede defeat in this year's Tri-Nations despite suffering their third straight defeat in the battle for southern hemisphere supremacy.

Robbie Deans' side are languishing at the bottom of the Tri-Nations table having lost once to leaders South Africa and suffered two defeats at the hands of Tasman rivals New Zealand - the latest of which came in agonising fashion in Sydney last weekend.

But the Wallabies are not willing to throw in the towel ahead of back-to-back clashes with the Springboks that will go a long way to deciding this year's title. The Australians have shown an ability to play attractive rugby that results in points at times over the first three Tests, but the problems have come by not seeing out the full 80 minutes.

South Africa: Ruan Pienaar, JP Pietersen, Jaque Fourie , Jean de Villiers, Bryan Habana, Morné Steyn, Fourie du Preez, Pierre Spies, Juan Smith, Heinrich Brüssow, Victor Matfield, Bakkies Botha, John Smit (captain), Bismarck du Plessis, Tendai Mtawarira

Replacements: Chiliboy Ralepelle, Jannie du Plessis, Andries Bekker, Schalk Burger, Ricky Januarie, Adi Jacobs, Frans Steyn

New Zealand v Australia Live Streaming TriNations Rugby

New Zealand vs Australia

Date: 22 August 2009, Saturday

Time: 10:05 GMT, 06:05 EDT, 2o:05 AEST

Venue: Olympic Stadium, Sydney

All the hype of a Bledisloe Cup match aside, Australia and New Zealand are playing for survival in the TriNations in Saturday's rugby union international at the former Olympic stadium.

The All Blacks have won 10 of the past 12 tests between the countries, and are the defending Bledisloe Cup and TriNations champions.

But they lost two in a row in South Africa after beating the Wallabies in Auckland to open the tournament.

Australia, meanwhile, also lost to the Springboks in South Africa on Aug. 8 and, with a single point from two matches, trail the leading Springboks by 10 points. South Africa's 12 points is eight ahead of New Zealand.

The Wallabies would almost certainly slide out of contention with another loss, while the All Blacks would find it difficult to come back after three straight losses to challenge South Africa's early dominance of the tournament.

The Wallabies have one thing in their favor - they've won three of the past four tests in Sydney, including a 34-19 victory over New Zealand last year in Kiwi Robbie Deans' first Bledisloe Cup match as coach of Australia.

All Blacks assistant coach Wayne Smith is wary, despite the All Blacks' 22-16 win over Australia at Auckland last month.

"They gave us a hiding here last year, that's all I know," Smith told New Zealand Press Association on Thursday.

"They've got 11 of those players fronting and they've got a big one (flanker Rocky Elsom) back.

"Sometimes the test has turned on a little thing. I wouldn't think it's psychological, it's just the way the games have gone.

"It's going to be another close one."
If the All Blacks win, they'll retain the Bledisloe Cup with two matches to spare.

"It's a big game for us, there's no hiding from that," Smith said. "In terms of the Tri-Nations, one of us is going to be out.

"We talk about Bledisloe Cup too because it's a huge trophy for us but we think highly of the TriNations too. That's important to us and you don't want to give that up lightly."

Star flyhalf Daniel Carter will return for the All Blacks, his first test of the season after rupturing his Achilles tendon in January.

Carter has only played one club game and three matches for his Canterbury province leading into his 60th test appearance, and 14th against Australia.

Teams :

Australia: James O'Connor, Lachie Turner, Adam Ashley-Cooper, Berrick Barnes, Drew Mitchell, Matt Giteau, Luke Burgess; Richard Brown, George Smith (captain), Rocky Elsom, Nathan Sharpe, James Horwill, Al Baxter, Stephen Moore, Benn Robinson.

Reserves: Tatafu Polota-Nau, Ben Alexander, Dean Mumm, David Pocock, Will Genia, Ryan Cross, Peter Hynes.

New Zealand: Mils Muliaina, Josevata Rokocoko, Conrad Smith, Luke McAlister, Sitiveni Sivivatu, Dan Carter, Jimmy Cowan; Kieran Read, Richie McCaw (captain), Jerome Kaino, Isaac Ross, Brad Thorn, Owen Franks, Andrew Hore, Tony Woodcock.

Reserves: Aled de Malmanche, John Afoa, Jason Eaton, Rodney So'oialo, Brendon Leonard, Stephen Donald, Ma'a Nonu.

CURRENT POS: 8 POINTS: 20
Rabbitohs v Panthers ANZ Stadium Fri, 10 Jul 2009 19:35

Glory, glory to South Sydney? There aren’t many fans thinking as much this week after last weekend’s capitulation to the Wests Tigers – and now the Bunnies face what is quite simply a must-win encounter against Penrith.

The Rabbitohs’ players are reportedly a little miffed at the fact their coach said their 54-20 loss against the Tigers “wasn’t up to NRL standard”. But newsflash guys – it wasn’t.

And if the side plays the same way for the remainder of the year they will not win another match. If that happens their current five-game losing streak will be extended by another nine games to be their second worst in history.

They may be sitting in 11th spot on the ladder but they are five competition points adrift of the eighth-placed Panthers and a loss to them here would surely make it a bridge too far to figure in the semis.
With Michael Crocker and Craig Wing off on Origin duty the side has a few changes.

Issac Luke comes off the bench to start at hooker and Eddy Pettybourne does the same to join the starting second row.

Luke Capewell is out, with Nathan Merritt going back to fullback and Jamie Simpson reverting to the wing to allow for Beau Champion to return at centre.

Luke Stuart moves from the second row to prop, with Scott Geddes moving to the bench and Ben Lowe coming into the back row.

Beau Falloon and Dave Tyrrell are the new faces on the bench which has five men at this stage.

Many expected the Panthers to struggle after they lost skipper Petero Civoniceva to injury but the big cats purred loud enough to get a last-ditch win against the Eels in a high-scoring shootout last weekend.

It has kept their finals prospects firmly in their hands and this clash against the Bunnies is certainly vital as they must battle without several big names like Michael Jennings, Civoniceva, Luke Lewis, Frank Pritchard and Trent Waterhouse due to injuries and Origin duty.

With Jennings out, Brad Tighe moves from wing to centre with Ben McFadgean coming onto the wing. Geoff Daniela also comes into the centres with Gavin Cooper taking Waterhouse’s position in the second row.
Joseph Paulo replaces Pritchard in the second row, with the new bench faces being Adam Woolnough, Sam McKendry and Andrew Emelio.

Sea Eagles vs Bulldogs Live Streaming Rugby Game

Sea Eagles v Bulldogs
Brookvale Oval
Monday 7pm

Boy, what a difference a month can make! After Round 11, having fallen in controversial last-minute fashion to the Titans, the Sea Eagles were five points adrift of the top eight in 13th position. But three successive wins and two byes have rocketed them to 18 points, good enough for seventh on the NRL ladder when points differential is taken into account.

They share that rung with the Cowboys, Panthers and Broncos and get the chance to push hard for a top-four spot against the Bulldogs at home.

They are at full-strength (although still minus Brett Stewart) and have named Heath L’Estrange, Jason King, George Rose and Tony Williams on the bench, with Jared Waerea-Hargreaves and Adam Cuthbertson in jerseys 20 and 21.

It’s the last chance for winger David Williams and prop Brent Kite to show they are deserving of retaining their spots in the NSW State of Origin side.

Meanwhile the Bulldogs are coming off a hat-trick of wins over top-eight aspirants the Broncos, Panthers and Cowboys. Jarrad Hickey and Daryl Millard will again be called on to do the job in the absence of the injured Ben Hannant and Jamal Idris, while Josh Morris and Michael Ennis will be pushing their claims for a Blues call-up.

This game will be an emotional one for Hazem El Masri, his first since announcing he will be hanging up his boots at season’s end.
